Liverpool FC’s training was cancelled following an impromptu trip to Birmingham after being thrashed 1-0 by Tottenham. The Premier League leaders lost the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash – and to add insult to injury, their trip home was thrown into chaos due to bad weather.
The squad were due to fly back to John Lennon Airport after Wednesday night’s match (January 8), but the flight was unable to land due to “icy fog”, The Athletic reports. The plane was then diverted to Birmingham, with “ground transportation provided for the rest of the journey home”.
Players reportedly didn’t get back until the early hours of this morning (Thursday, January 9). This resulted in the team’s post-match training being cancelled.

This now means Liverpool will potentially only have one training session before they face Accrington Stanley in the third round of the FA Cup. The match, which will be held at Anfield, kicks off at 12.15pm on Saturday, January 11.
This was not the first time the team has been impacted by poor weather conditions this season, The Sun reports. Back in December, the team had its clash with Everton postponed due to Storm Darragh.
There was also concerns their game versus Man United on Sunday was going to be called off following snowfall. The match is now reportedly set for February 11 but the Premier League are yet to confirm.
