Liverpool rat league – the areas of the city with the worst rodent problems

We have compiled the city’s rat league based on the areas with the most call outs to pest control in 2024

There are few worse discoveries to make in or around your home than finding a rat. No one wants to see a rodent running through their hallway or garden.

Unfortunately that was the case for lots of people in Liverpool last year, who were forced to contact the pest control team at Liverpool City Council to come and remove rodents from their homes.

The council has taken lots of action to try and combat pest issues in the city in recent years, including efforts to improve properties and alleyways and to provide different types of bins for communities. But despite this, there are still rat and rodent problems for many.

The ECHO submitted a Freedom of Information request to Liverpool City Council asking for the number of call outs made by the council’s pest control team to properties in different parts of the city in 2024 where rats had been reported. From this we have constructed the Liverpool rat league, with the worst affected areas of the city at the top. The league is divided up into council wards and can be found below.
