TV presenter Lorraine Kelly shared a post that read “the end” on social media this week after having so far been absent from her self-titled talk show since the new year.
Lorraine, 65, last hosted the TV show on New Year’s Eve in an episode that’s said to have been pre-recorded. There wasn’t an episode on New Year’s Day, but Ranvir Singh, 47, then covered for the host on both Thursday and Friday.
Fans were given an update from Lorraine on Friday morning shortly before the show’s broadcast. She shared a photo on her Instagram page that showed a white background with “the end” typed across the otherwise blank screen.
She however confirmed in the accompanying caption that the message wasn’t about her long-running show. The former Masked Singer contestant revealed that the post referenced her having now finished writing her latest book.
Lorraine wrote: “The two best and happiest words for a writer to type. Book two completed! Thanks to everyone who bought BOOK ONE – The Island Swimmer and made it a best seller. The paperback version of that will be released soon.” She included hashtags like #finished and #happy.
The post was liked by Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid among other ITV colleagues. Former Strictly Come Dancing star Tyler West, who’s an entertainment reporter on Lorraine, reacted to the recent post with starry emojis.

Tyler wasn’t the only colleague from the show to respond in the comments section though. Fasion journalist Mark Heyes wrote: “Well done. Amazing stuff.” Whilst Dr. Amir Khan said in his reply: “Congratulations – that’s the best feeling.”
Fans also reacted to the announcement, with one person writing: “I look forward to reading it.” Another said: “How marvellous. Can’t wait to read [it].” A third follower wrote in their response to Lorraine: “Amazing. Loved the last one.”
Lorraine’s debut novel the Island Swimmer was published in February last year. Whilst promoting it four months later, she shared on the platform that she was “working on the sequel” but has yet to announce the title of the follow-up.
Her absence from recent episodes of her show comes after it was reported that she hosted less than 60 per cent of ITV’s Lorraine last year. Her absences are said to be monitored each week by the social media account known as Where is Lorraine?
According to data shared by the account, which has the handle @LorraineKWatch on X, Lorraine hosted around 59.7 per cent of her show last year. Ranvir and Christine Lampard, who were among the stand-ins, are said to have presented around 20 per cent of episodes each last year.
