A man was found lying unconscious in the street with serious head injuries after being brutally attacked on New Year’s Eve.
Emergency services were called to the junction of Lune View and Lancaster Road in Poulton-le-Fylde shortly before 10pm on Tuesday (December 31). Lancashire Police said the victim, a man in his 20s, had been ‘seriously assaulted’ and had suffered a ‘significant head injury’.
He was taken to hospital where he remains. A 20-year-old man from Blackpool was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
In a statement, a force spokesperson said: “We are appealing for information and witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted. Police were called at 9.53pm on New Year’s Eve to a report of a man lying unconscious at the junction of Lune View and Lancaster Road, Poulton le Fylde.
“The man, in his 20s, had been seriously assaulted and had suffered a significant head injury. He was taken to hospital where he remains.
“Following enquiries a man in his 20s from Blackpool was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding and has been bailed pending further enquiries. We are appealing to anyone who either witnessed the assault itself or who has any information to come forward and contact us.
