A man has been rushed to hospital after a crash between a car and a bike on the A38 Kingsbury Road in Sutton Coldfield. The man, in his 60s, was a cyclist involved in a collision with a car on Kingsbury Road in Minworth, a village in Sutton Coldfield.
Paramedics said the male cyclist sustained “serious injuries” and provided trauma care at the scene. He is currently being treated in Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
The latest update from live traffic system INRIX confirmed at 10:15am that the A38 Kingsbury Road eastbound remained closed. A police cordon is currently up at the scene and police have confirmed the driver stopped at the scene to assist with inquiries.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.52am to a road traffic collision involving a car and a bike on Kingsbury Road in Minworth, Sutton Coldfield. Two ambulances and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Critical Care Car attended the scene.
“Upon arrival we found a man who was the cyclist who was assessed and had sustained serious injuries. He received trauma care at the scene before being conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.”
A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: “Kingsbury Road at the junction of Forge Lane in Erdington is closed following a collision this morning. Police were called at 5.52am after a pedestrian was hit by a car.
“A man in his 60s was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life threatening. The driver stopped at the scene and assisted officers with their enquiries.
“Any witnesses to the collision, or anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage, should contact police on 101, quoting log number 531 of 2 January.”
