A map shows drivers where they can purchase petrol at the cheapest price in Merseyside. On January 17, the average price of petrol nationally was 136.8 pence per litre however, in the Liverpool City Region, that number falls to 135 pence.

In Liverpool, the cheapest petrol this week was found at Asda on Smithtown Road at a price of 132.7 pence per litre, while the average amount drivers in the area were paying was 135.2 pence per litre.

Sefton matched Liverpool’s average price. The least expensive petrol there was found at Morrisons on Victoria Way, Southport, priced at 132.7 pence per litre.

Over in Knowsley, the average price dipped slightly to 135.1 pence, with the cheapest fuel being 131.1 pence at Asda on Huyton Lane, Huyton. Meanwhile, Wirral drivers faced a higher average petrol price of 136.2 pence per litre, although those who filled up at Asda in Croft Business Park, Bromborough, enjoyed a lower rate of 129.7 pence.

In St Helens, the most affordable fuel was at Asda on Kirkland Street in the town centre, costing 131.7 pence. The area’s average petrol price was 134 pence.
