Martin Lewis has issued an urgent warning alongside his Money Saving Expert team for those who fly with British Airways. If you were handed a travel voucher during Covid, then BA has warned you must use the vouchers up by September.
MSE, the BBC and ITV star Mr Lewis’ consumer group, advised: “You need to complete your trip by the end of September 2025. To use your voucher, you must book AND take any flights or package holidays – both departure and return – by 11.59pm on 30 September 2025.”
MSE says you can use your voucher to pay or part-pay for flights when you book on the BA website. MSE said: “Once you’ve chosen your flights, you’ll be taken to a page with the title ‘Review your flights’. Under your flight details, select ‘Apply an eVoucher’ and enter your email address, last name and your voucher code.

“You can add up to four vouchers per booking.” MSE adds that travellers and holidaymakers won’t be able to spend your voucher on extras, like baggage or seat reservations, so if you want these. You can also use your voucher via the phone line on 0344 493 0787 (lines open 6am to 8pm, Monday to Sunday).
I t comes after BA unveiled a revamp of its loyalty programme. Colm Lacy, the carrier’s chief commercial officer, said: “The changes we have announced today underline our continued investment in our loyalty programme and in our customers.
“Based on our members’ feedback, we’ve built on the changes we’ve already made – including how customers collect Avios and their membership year – in a way that we believe better rewards their loyalty and reflects their changing travel needs.”
Rob Burgess, editor of frequent flyer website headforpoints.com, said: “With a gold card now available for just over one-and-a-half £12,000 fully flexible Club World return flights to New York, it is clear who the target market now is.
“Realistically, it will now be impossible to earn gold for small business travellers, economy travellers or self-funded leisure travellers.”
