Meghan Markle's bold response to Suits comeback amid huge Instagram return

Meghan Markle’s new Instagram account marks a return to her pre-royal life.

The Duchess of Sussex had a hugely successful Insta page before she even met Prince Harry that went alongside her much-loved lifestyle blog, The Tig. On Instagram, Meghan would share snippets of her life from her globe-trotting holidays to life behind the scenes on the hit TV show Suits.

Former actress Meghan was in seven seasons of the legal drama, where she tasted fame playing the smart paralegal Rachel Zane. And with Instagram back in her life, speculation has swirled about whether a return to acting could be on the cards.

In fact, last year, it was announced a new Suits spin-off would be coming to screens featuring former original cast member Gabriel Macht as Harvey Spector. The series is being filmed in Los Angeles, close to Harry and Meghan’s Montecito home.

However, the last time Meghan was explicitly asked about a return to acting was almost four years ago in 2021 during her and Harry’s infamous bombshell chat with Oprah Winfrey. During the tell-all interview, Oprah asked Meghan if she would ever return to acting.

And while the Duchess said it was not something she had planned to go back to, she did telling add: “Never say never.” Meghan left Suits and also closed her personal Instagram account back in 2017, shortly after it was revealed she had struck up a romance with Harry.

At the same time she also wound up The Tig, saying: “After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it’s time to say goodbye to The Tig. What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity.

“You’ve made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy. Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being ‘the change you wish to see in the world ‘. Above all, don’t ever forget your worth – as I’ve told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough. Thank you for everything. Xx”

Harry and Meghan then launched their Sussex Royal Instagram account on April 2, 2019, after they split from the now Prince and Princess of Waleses’ Kensington Palace household, which operates on social media as Kensington Royal.

The couple used their account to announce the birth and name of their baby son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, to promote their own work and that of charities, and release their so-called Megxit statement. However, they stopped using the account in 2020 when they quit as senior royals.

Meghan’s Instagram return has been teased for around two years and in 2022 in an interview with New York Magazine’s The Cut, she confided: “Do you want to know a secret? I’m getting back … on Instagram.” However, at other times, she sounded reluctant to return, citing concerns about harassment. In 2023, she and Harry urged social media platforms to strengthen content-moderation policies, saying that some apps could damage the mental health of young people.
