Met names man charged with Woolwich stabbing after victim left on life support and girl, 17, arrested

A man has been charged following a Woolwich stabbing that left a teenager fighting for his life. The attack happened on Shooters Hill, Woolwich, on Monday, January 6. This is unrelated to the fatal stabbing of 14-year-old Kelyan Bokassa, also in Woolwich.

Oquaine Simpson, 19, of Dacres Road, Forest Hill, was taken into custody earlier today (Thursday, January 9). He has been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon. He will appear at Bromley Magistrates Court later.

The stabbing took place at around 4.20pm on Prince Imperial Road, which forced Shooters Hill Sixth Form College to close its doors.

Shooters Hill Sixth Form College closed its gates to students following the attack. However the school told us it reopened this morning (Thursday, January 9)

The victim is now stable after being critical for some time. It was the first of two stabbings in the area in as many days.

On Tuesday, January 7, schoolboy Kelyan Bokassa was murdered as he headed to see his social worker on the 472 double-decker bus. The 14-year-old was knifed on Woolwich Church Street with the killer still on the loose.

Mast Quay – a residential area just off Woolwich Church Street – was still closed this morning.
