A fresh 36-hour weather warning for snow has been issued for parts of the UK. The Met Office said that ‘heavy’ snow is predicted to fall in the coming days.
It has today (Thursday, January 2) issued a new yellow weather warning for snow. The alert will come into force at midnight on Sunday, January 5, and end at noon on Monday, January 6.
There could be some disruption, with power cuts and travel delays anticipated. According to the Met Office, Scotland and northern England will be impacted.

The Met Office said: “Whilst not all areas may be affected, outbreaks of snow will likely develop during Sunday and Sunday night, potentially giving some significant accumulations in places. The greatest risk is in southern and eastern Scotland, where 2-5 cm may accumulate in quite a few places and perhaps as much as 10-20 cm over high ground.
