Met Office town-by-town forecast for Gloucestershire amid snow warning

Gloucestershire is set for freezing temperatures and snowfall this weekend. There are two Met Office warnings for snow and ice in place with the forecaster expecting widespread disruption.

The first yellow warning is in place from 12pm tomorrow (Saturday, January 4) until 11.59pm on Sunday. Meanwhile, an amber warning has also been issued from 6pm tomorrow until 12pm on Sunday.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has also issued an amber cold health alert which is in place until 12pm next Wednesday (January 8). People have been warned of significant disruption across health and social care services.

In Gloucestershire, tomorrow is set to be the coldest day of the weekend with some areas of the county expected to wake up to sub-zero temperatures. The snow is then set to arrive by 5pm before becoming heavier throughout the evening.

Gloucester

Saturday, January 4

Gloucester can expect a chilly morning tomorrow with the temperature set to be 1C at 9am. The mercury will reach 3C in the afternoon before light snowfall arrives at 5pm.

The flurries of snow will continue before getting heavier at 8pm. By this time, the temperature will be 1C.

Further snow will then arrive between 9pm and 12am. The “feels like temperature” will be -3C from 10pm until midnight.

Sunday, January 5

Conditions will become milder in Gloucester on Sunday. The Met Office expects the temperature to hit 7C at 12pm.

The mercury will then rise again to 10C at 10pm. However, there will be light rainfall throughout the day.

Cheltenham

Saturday, January 4

People in Cheltenham will wake up to a temperature of 0C at 7am tomorrow. There will be some sunshine throughout the morning but conditions will be cold.

The snow is expected to arrive by 6pm before getting gradually heavier until 11pm. The Met Office expects the “feels like temperature” to fall as low as -5C at 11pm.

Sunday, January 5

The cold snap will ease on Sunday with a temperature of 5C expected at 9am. It will then reach 10C in the afternoon.

The evening will continue to be mild in Cheltenham. However, there will be light rain throughout the day.

Stroud

Saturday, January 4

The Met Office outlook is predicting the temperature to be 0C in Stroud from 5am until 8am tomorrow morning. The mercury will only peak at 3C in the afternoon before snow begins to fall.

The first flurries are set to land at 5pm. Heavy snow is then expected from 6pm until midnight with “feels like temperatures” as low as -5C.

Sunday, January 5

There will be heavy rain in Stroud on Sunday morning. However, conditions will be milder with a temperature of 4C at 9am and 8C at 12pm.

There will then be light rain throughout the afternoon. Temperatures will remain at 10C by 6pm before dropping slightly into the night.

Tetbury

Saturday, January 4

People in Tetbury can expect to wake up to sub-zero temperatures tomorrow morning. The Met Office is predicting the mercury to be at -2C at 7am and -1C at 9am.

The afternoon will remain chilly before snow arrives at 5pm. The heavy snow will continue to fall before turning to rain at 12am.

Sunday, January 5

There will be heavy rain in Tetbury overnight into Sunday. The temperature will be 1C at 6am and 3C at 9am.

Conditions will then become milder as the mercury hits 10C in the afternoon. However, the rain will persist throughout the day.

Coleford

Saturday, January 4

There will be temperatures of -1C between 3am and 8am in Coleford tomorrow morning. This will be followed by a bright morning before the snow arrives.

Once again, the first flurries will land at 5pm and become heavier throughout the evening. The heavy snow will turn to heavy rain at midnight.

Sunday, January 5

Coleford won’t be as mild as other county areas on Sunday. The Met Office is predicting high temperatures of 8C between 3pm and 6pm.

There will also be steady rainfall throughout the day. Forecasters expect light rain between 6am and 9pm.
