A mum-of-one was tragically found dead at home after a 20-year battle. Kim Gribit suffered with arthritis and psoriasis which plagued her for over two decades.

Kim, who was born in Speke but lived in Cressington, was found dead in her home on 9 June last year. In a tribute to his mum, son Jack, told how she always told him to go for his dreams.

He told the ECHO: “She was very giving, when she was here I was training to be a personal trainer and she funded it all herself. She told me to go for goals and go for my dreams, she was always that kind of person. The more her life went on the worse her illnesses got worse but she wanted a better outlook on life, she wanted to be better. She couldn’t walk so it was my responsibility to take her out and loved to go down the promenade.”

Kim, 45, was wheelchair bound due to her condition and Jack, along with Kim’s mum Lynn, 72, would care for her when her condition worsened.

The mum-of-one died due to acute myocardial insufficiency due to severe coronary artery atheroma. Her inability to walk through the crippling pain from her arthritis, coupled with her poor lifestyle over the years, led to her death.

However despite her poor health, Jack told the ECHO how she would always encourage people to think about the environment and choose sustainable choices whenever they could.

He said: “She was passionate about saving the planet and making a change, she wanted people to change their ways. She would always tell me about not using plastic bottles and things like that. It meant a lot to her.”

Now, seven months on from the death of his mum, 21-year-old Jack is raising money for Psoriatic Disease UK by doing a sky dive gifted to him by his mum before her death.

Writing on his GoFundMe, he said: “Recently, I lost my mum, Kim—my biggest supporter and the person who always encouraged me to push through life’s challenges.

“Before she passed, she gave me an incredible final gift: a sky dive. While I’ve never dreamed of doing something like this before, it feels like the perfect way to honour her memory and her belief in me to face my fears and embrace life.” Jack continued to thank his girlfriend Katie for her support and help in raising £415 in two days.
