Netflix cancelled more shows than any other streaming platform in 2024, it has been revealed. A total of 16 programmes finished last year, while six more will run for one more season before wrapping up for good.
Nine of the 22 shows were scrapped after just one season, including Bad Dinosaurs, The Brothers Sun, Buying London, Dead Boy Detectives, Everything Now, Kaos, Obilterated, Ratched and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. Other shows not returning for series two include Arcane, Barbarians, Break Point, Buying Beverly Hills, Girls5Ever, My Dad The Bounty Hunter and That 90s Show.
The Mirror reports that Avatar will be ending with a third and final season, while Blood of Zeus has one series left and Outer Banks’ fifth instalment will be its last. The hugely popular Stranger Things, staring Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour, will air its fifth and final season later this year.

Squid Game, which recently returned with a second series, will also end this year with a third series lined up to see it out. But it’s not all bad news, subscribers still have a lot to look forward to on Netflix.
Sweet Magnolias is set to premiere its fourth season in February. Bridgerton, Ginny & Georgia, The Diplomat, Emily in Paris, Wednesday and Nobody Wants This will also return, and Virgin River has been renewed for a seventh series.
Elsewhere, AppleTV+ cancelled six shows last year, including Constellation, Silo and Time Bandits. Disney+ has scrapped American Born Chinese and Star Wars spin-off The Acolyte, while Prime Video terminated American Rust, Bosch: Legacy, The Boys, My Lady Jane, Outer Range and Upload.
