But that’s not all – this year will also witness the fifth and final instalment of Stranger Things, as well as the second series of Wednesday. Additionally, Netflix has a plethora of original content in the works.
These forthcoming shows range from historical epics and book-based comedy dramas to limited series inspired by real-life events and political thrillers. Each one boasts big-name stars and they’re all featured in the platform’s ‘worth the wait’ section, according to the Daily Record.

Here’s just a sample of the new original, English language productions set to land on the platform in 2025. Be sure to add them to your watchlist now.
American Primeval is first on the list and will be ready to stream in just a few days. It appears that American Primeval will be a hit with fans of other western classics such as Yellowstone, Lawman and Godless, reports the Mirror.
Set in the turbulent America of 1857, where peace is a rare commodity amidst brutal lands, the series provides a dramatised insight into the fierce clash of cultures, faiths, and communities as individuals strive to conquer the wild American west.
Taylor Kitsch stars in a series lauded for its efforts to achieve authenticity, including the enlistment of an Indigenous Cultural Consultant. Speaking on the consultant’s role, director and executive producer Peter Berg remarked, “Julie was there every day making sure that we got it right – that we got the hair right, the jewellery right, the clothes right, the language right, the behaviour right, for the time period and Nations.”
He further stated, “I knew what I didn’t know, and she was extremely valuable in helping us all make sure that we did get it right. We’re very mindful of how important it is that all of these different groups are honoured, that our research and depictions are accurate.”
The series ‘American Primeval’ landed on Netflix from January 9.
In the provocative flick ‘Zero Day,’ audience members grapple with a question that hits close to home in 2025: In a world being torn apart by unknown forces, how do we discern truth?
Furthermore, amid rampant conspiracy theories and misinformation, can we determine whether these disruptive forces are products of reality or creations of our collective psyche?
Robert De Niro spearheads a stellar cast in ‘Zero Day,’ a drama exploring the aftermath of a cyberattack that spreads destruction and death nationwide. The eminent cast includes Angela Bassett, Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Connie Britton, Matthew Modine, Dan Stevens, and Clark Gregg, with De Niro portraying the former President George Mullen, who heads the commission tasked with tracking down the culprits behind the attack.
Netflix is set to release Zero Day on February 20. Another upcoming mystery drama series, The Residence, is based on Kate Andersen Brower’s book The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House.
The plot centres around a murder investigation following the discovery of a body in the White House, with one eccentric detective having to sift through 157 suspects among the Presidential staff. Described as a screwball whodunnit set in the most famous residence in the US, the show stars Uzo Aduba of Orange is the New Black fame, Marvel star Randall Park and Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito.
The Residence will be available on Netflix from March 20.
Apple Cider Vinegar is a drama set in the early days of Instagram. It follows two young women who claim to have cured their life-threatening illnesses through health and wellness, influencing their global online communities along the way – if only it were true.
While the series is rooted in reality and draws inspiration from the book The Woman Who Fooled the World by journalists Beau Donelly and Nick Toscano, it’s essentially a work of fiction. Billed by Netflix as a ”true-ish tale based on a lie”, certain characters and events have been invented or fictionalised.
It features Kaitlyn Dever who is poised for a big 2025 as she will also appear in the second season of HBO’s The Last of US. Apple Cider Vinegar is the only one on this list which is yet to get a confirmed release date from Netflix but you can still add it to your watchlist now.
