Marks and Spencer is to open a new outlet store near Manchester.
The retailer is planning to open the shop at Warrington’s Riverside Retail Park close to the town centre.
There are already a number of M&S Outlet stores, including one at Quayside in Salford, formerly Lowry Outlet, and they are known for offering big discounts on clothing, furniture and more.
M&S has submitted plans for signage at the site, which is home to a wide range of stores including B&M, Home Bargains, Sports Direct and a Next Outlet.

There is already a huge M&S store over at the town’s Gemini Retail Park, near IKEA, but shoppers are pleased there’s a discount store coming to the area.
“I usually travel to the outlet in Salford or there’s one at Cheshire Oaks,” said one shopper. “This will be great having it on our doorstep.”
Others have shared concerns about traffic in the area, saying ‘we already struggle getting in and out of that retail park, this is going to make it even busier’.
The retailer’s planning application to Warrington Borough Council is for two illuminated fascia signs, one non-illuminated sign and seven vinyl signs.
The planning documents, which include an illustration of how the store will look, state: “Marks and Spencer will soon be opening an M&S Outlet store at unit four of Riverside Retail Park. M&S is keen to ensure its new stores are legible, uniform and easily recognisable to its customers.

“Advertisement consent is sought to reflect the most up-to-date M&S branding, in alignment with the company’s wider renewal and new store openings programme.
“This involves the installation of two illuminated fascia signs showing ‘M&S Outlet’, and one non-illuminated sign to the rear.
“The national advertising campaign that the wider company is currently promoting will also be reflected on high-level vinyls mounted either side of the store entrance.
“Overall, the proposed signage at the proposed M&S Outlet store at Riverside Retail Park in Warrington would be an entirely appropriate use of the retail unit and wider retail park.”
