New opening date for Cotswolds Designer Outlet near M5 as first shops revealed

Shops due to open at the Cotswolds Designer Outlet near the M5 in Gloucestershire have started to advertise jobs. The retail centre is currently being built off junction 9 near Tewkesbury.

The expected opening date had been given as spring 2025. But it is now due to open in early summer 2025.

Already, burger restaurant Five Guys is seeking staff as well as athletics store Under Armour. It’s also understood that Puma is seeking new staff.

The centre, which says is will be dog friendly, will be at Platinum Drive, Tewkesbury. A number of housing developments are also proposed in the area.

Five Guys is seeking an assistant store manager with a salary of £33,040 with an ‘achievable bonus’ of £6,000 a year and an additional secret shopper bonus of £2,000

Cotswolds Designer Outlet is expected to create up to 500 new retail jobs across more than 55 individual stores and restaurants, as well as in the management and operations of the outlet centre itself.

Under Armour is looking for someone ready to join “a high-energy, performance-driven team dedicated to empowering athletes around the world” It’s looking for an assistant store manager at the Cotswolds Designer Outlet who will be a key player on our store leadership team, supporting the Store Manager in achieving operational excellence and profitability.

It is also understood that Puma is looking for a store manager for the store and is advertising the position ‘near Tewkesbury.” The brand wants someone with two to four years of management experience in a focused and customer service oriented retail environment.

It will feature a diverse range of brands, including fashion, home goods, sports equipment, shoes, and accessories, as well as dining establishments, creating approximately 500 retail positions.

On the Cotswolds Designer Outlet website, the vision for the centre is explained. A statement says: “Where global brands and local materials combine to deliver an inspiring guest experience and a highly successful retail platform. Whilst outlet shopping was introduced into the UK in the early 1990s there has been considerable development and refinement of the concept since its inception. Consumers have become more aware of outlet shopping and expectations have risen considerably from their early off-price origins.

“To build a new outlet scheme for launch in 2025 comes with great responsibility to deliver a stunning retail and leisure experience and a destination that provides compelling reasons to visit and return. Cotswolds Designer Outlet will be a place with a wider purpose and deliver on its enormous potential.”
