New scales show exactly what’s in your food and link to your phone

Shoppers interested in keeping a track on their nutrition – from calories to vitamins, minerals and fat – can now use an app-linked set of scales which will help you determine exactly what is in your food and keep a log of what you are eating.

VeSync Co’s kitchen appliance brand COSORI has launched its Smart Nutrition Scale. The kitchen scales link with an app on your phone via Bluetooth, then display all the nutrients that make up what you are weighing.

So the scales will not only show you how heavy the food is, but also how many calries are in it as well as what vitamins and nminerals it contains, how much fibre, water and other key facts. It will also link to VeSync air fryers to integrate your cooking instructions.

The scale allows users to monitor 19 essential nutrients as is compatible with Apple Health and Fitbit. The scale generates detailed nutrition reports—daily, weekly, or monthly—allowing users to monitor dietary trends. It is backed by Nutritionix, the world’s largest verified nutrition database featuring nearly one million food items.

You can either scan bar codes or enter the food you are weighing manually to find the details..

The scale’s large LCD display shows up to 12 key nutrition facts such as calories and macronutrients and users can access detailed nutritional analysis via the VeSync app on their phones.

One Amazon user said: ” I like that the scales run on AAA batteries rather than a coin cell, means I can use rechargeable batteries. The scales integrate really well with the app, so long as you can find the item in the library you can get the details into the scales.

“Have been really helpful tracking calories and macros without putting in too much effor with a calculator!”

Another added: ” This kitchen scale does the job, especially for anyone trying to track nutrition. The nutritional calculator is helpful, and the Bluetooth feature connects to an app, which makes tracking easier. However, I find the scale to be a bit flimsy, and the screen is sometimes hard to read in dim lighting. It’s accurate enough for regular use, but it could definitely be more durable and easier to use. It’s fine for everyday tasks, but I wouldn’t rely on it for long-term or professional use.”

A third said: “Stylish looking scales, sleek and well made.Instructions are clear and simple. You can download an app which works in sync with the scales. Input weight and product data to get calorie control etc.

“Worth stating that you don’t need to use the app. The scales do work on their own, it’s an optional extra. They appear to be accurate with their weights and simple to use.

“Quite expensive but with the extra functionality they offer it’s worth the additional cost.”

The COSORI Smart Nutrition Scale is now available for £47.42 onAmazon UK.
