A major investigation is underway and anyone with information or footage is asked to contact West Midlands Police.
The ambulance service said: “We were called to an incident at the junction of Trent Street and Bordesley Street in Birmingham on Wednesday at around 11.25pm. Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews were informed a car and pedestrians had been involved in a collision.
“There were two female patients requiring medical treatment. The first woman was treated for serious injuries before being conveyed under emergency conditions to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital with MERIT travelling on board to provide continued treatment en route.

“The second woman was treated for injuries not believed to be serious and was taken to Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital.”
Det Ch Insp Jim Mahon, of Birmingham Police, said: “This was an appalling attack where a car has been used as a weapon and two women who were not involved in any way have been seriously injured as a result.
“This was incredibly reckless and indiscriminate, and our investigations so far lead us to believe that what happened may have been caused by a dispute between two men.
“We also believe that another man who may have been injured left the scene. The car involved will have suffered damage to the front, so we are appealing for anyone with information on that vehicle, or the injured person who left the scene, to get in touch.”
