Pete Wicks has spoken candidly about considering a “huge life decision” following his stint on Strictly Come Dancing, noticing unwelcome changes to his body.
The former star of The Only Way is Essex shared that his skin had become “quite bad” after appearing on the hit BBC show. Pete revealed it was a moment during a photoshoot that left him wondering if he should take action.
On his Staying Relevant podcast with friend Sam Thompson, Pete explained he thought his face had been “drooping”. And, having turned 36 in November, Pete wondered if he should consider a cosmetic procedure.

He explained: “I had a photoshoot and the glam people that were doing up my hair and all that sort of f***** stuff, and I said my skin’s been quite bad recently and I’ve been doing Strictly and all the other stuff and she literally went to me, ‘yeah, there’s a lot of lumps and bumps there, have you thought about Botox?’ And I am thinking about it.
“I have no issue with people doing whatever to make them happy but my face is drooping and I do feel at 36 years old I should maybe start looking at something.”

Sam explained he thought there was one subtle reason why Pete may be having issues with his skin. He humorously advised: “Can I tell you why that is? Because you don’t smile enough.”
In response, Pete he was keen to avoid the procedures Sam has undergone previously because it “didn’t go well”. Sam explained he has tried salmon sperm injections which were “fine” but Botox “f******” him, reports Lancs Live.
Speaking about his appearance post-Botox and weight-loss, Pete expressed his confusion at public reactions: “Now I have nothing in my face and people are still telling me ‘why have you ruined your face?’ But I don’t understand because I don’t know what I’ve done. It’s worn off.”

He also shared concerns over appearing too youthful post-treatment, remarking: “I don’t want to look like a f****** kid. But I mean, because I lost a lot of weight on Strictly, the old wattle’s gone – my face has really slimmed.”
On the topic of lifestyle changes following his stint on Strictly, Pete revealed: “I’m still not really drinking by the way. I’m just drinking like a normal person now and I’ve been out a couple of times since the Strictly thing and I’ve had a few drinks but I’ve been going home at a normal time and I’m not drinking alone anymore.”
Sam humorously commented that Pete was adopting a “new year, new me” attitude for 2025.
