A popular pub has closed for the second time in 18 months after it was sold. The Coopers Arms had been a popular fixture in the Plasmarl area of Swansea for generations, and described by some as the “pillar of the community”.

But after 15 months trading, Mr Hammett himself has now been forced to close, after he said the pub was sold, and the new owners of the pub decided not to renew the lease. A farewell party was held on New Year’s Eve to bring regulars together for one last time, which saw plenty of regulars unite for an evening of singing, dancing and socialising. A message written to customers read: “As many people are aware The Coopers Arms has been up for sale by the landlords for the past few months and has recently been sold!
“Unfortunately the new owners do not wish to renew our lease, So that means unfortunately we’ll be closing.” It added: “Myself (Richard) and all the team would like to thank you for all the support over last 15 months of trading.” Join our WhatsApp news community here for the latest breaking news.
