Poundland pickpocket steals purse packed with cash from Cannock OAP – CCTV appeal

A CCTV appeal has been launched to find a woman after a pickpocket stole a purse from an unsuspecting customer at a popular discount chain in Staffordshire. The incident took place at the Poundland shop in Market Place in Cannock town centre on Friday, December 3.

A woman in her 70s had withdrawn around £450 from a cashpoint and put it in her purse. But she may have been watched as when she went into Poundland the purse was taken at around 11.30am.

Now Staffordshire Police has issued an image of a woman officers would like to speak to in connection with he theft. The woman is white, wearing a beige beanie hat, long black coat, over a cream roll-neck jumper.

She also had black trousers and shoes, and was wearing a brown scarf over the top of her coat. In issuing the appeal, a spokeswoman for Staffordshire Police said: “Do you recognise this woman? We would like to speak to her following the theft of a purse in Cannock town centre.

“On Friday 3 December, the victim, a woman in her 70s, withdrew around £450 from a cashpoint and put it in her purse. When she went into Poundland, on Market Square, the purse was taken by an unknown offender. The incident happened at around 11.30am.
