Princess Charlotte’s £1.5k necklace has surprising link to Prince Harry

Princess Charlotte showed just how much she’s maturing during the Royal Family’s traditional Christmas Day walkabout as she matched her mother, the Princess of Wales, in a chic outfit.

Charlotte wore a tartan jacket which was a perfect match for Kate’s elegant forest green coat designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. On closer inspection, eagle-eyed admirers noted that Charlotte also sported an understated necklace sitting prettily above her coat’s collar.

The sophisticated piece of jewellery comes with an astonishing price tag of £1,500, according to the Mail On Sunday, and an unexpected connection to her uncle Prince Harry. The pricey accessory is from the brand Aya, founded by Harry’s former girlfriend Chelsy Davy.

However, those looking to purchase the gold and ruby necklace will be disappointed since it appears to no longer be available for sale. Chelsy Davy found herself in a long-term but intermittently stable relationship with Harry, with their final breakup happening in 2011.

Post-split, Harry went on to marry Meghan Markle and welcomed two children with the actress, while Chelsy made an appearance at the couple’s nuptials in Windsor. The connection between Harry and Chelsy traces back to their first meeting when she was a student at Cheltenham College.

The pair became an item during Harry’s gap year in Cape Town in 2004, reports the Mirror. Chelsy famously referred to media scrutiny during their relationship as “nuts”.

Over their years together, Chelsy was often seen in the company of Kate, especially when both were supporting their partners during polo matches. In his tell-all memoir ‘Spare’, Harry warmly recalls his former flame, noting: “Unlike so many people I knew, she seemed wholly unconcerned with appearances, with propriety, with royalty.

“Unlike so many girls I met, she wasn’t visibly fitting herself for a crown the moment she shook my hand. She seemed immune to that common affliction sometimes called throne syndrome.

“I’d always wanted to know what it might be like to meet a woman and not have her eyes widen at the mention of my title but instead to widen them myself, using my mind, my heart.”

Royal expert Robert Lacey delves into the dynamics of Harry’s past relationships in his book ‘Battle of Brothers’, revealing that Chelsy Davy decided to call time on their relationship after witnessing the nuptials of William and Kate. He states: “In 2011, after more comings and goings, she finally decided to go – and it was, ironically, Kate and William’s grand and glorious wedding that spring that did it for her.”

A confidante of Chelsy shared that she expressed to Harry her inability to endure the sacrifices she saw Kate making, especially in terms of constantly being in the media spotlight. Post-breakup, Chelsy, now a mother of two, tied the knot with Sam Cutmore-Scott and has transitioned from her legal profession to entrepreneurship, running her own jewellery business, Aya.

The Aya website states: “Aya was founded by Chelsy Davy, a lawyer turned gemologist with a love for jewellery and a fascination for gemstones. Chelsy studied gemology, gaining a diploma from the Gemological Institute of America, the world’s foremost authority on diamonds and coloured gemstones.”
