Raider rams stolen Land Rover into store and petrol station before stealing £15,000 worth of bikes

A ram raider used a stolen Land Rover to target a shop and a petrol station before he went on to break into a garage to steal £15,000 worth of bikes.

Joshua Partyka, 32, of Woodland Grove, Wrexham engaged in a series of robberies which included using a car to ram into two different businesses with the intention of theft. He then smashed a window to grab £15,000 worth of bikes from a store in Holywell in a separate raid.

Partyka appeared at Mold Crown Court for sentencing today here he admitted to two counts of burglary and one count of attempted burglary. You can sign up for all the latest court stories here.

The spree began on September 10 when Partyka, driving a stolen Land Rover displaying false number plates, caused significant structural damage after crashing into the Premier shop on Victoria Road, Brynteg. He then targeted the Apple Green service station in Mold, where he again used the vehicle to cause damage and proceeded to steal items from within.

Partyka broke into Hillcrest Garage’s bike shop in Holywell on September 20 by smashing a window, where he stole electric and mountain bikes valued at £15,000. Though none of these bikes were recovered, evidence was found on a phone seized from Partyka’s home that displayed images of the stolen bikes and included messages discussing the sale of one of them.

Additionally, a bike rack stolen during the crime was later found in the garden of his residence.

Partyka, a habitual burglar, was jailed for three years today at Mold Crown Court. Speaking after sentencing, PC Connor Fenwick, the investigating officer, said: “I welcome this sentence that serves as a reminder that offenders who are intent on committing crime in North Wales will be pursued and brought to justice.

“While no sentence can undo the harm and distress caused by Partyka’s habitual crimes, I hope the public are reassured that criminal behaviour will not be tolerated in North Wales, and we will continue to work tirelessly to protect the safety and security of our communities.”
