Red ‘act now’ flood alerts in Devon and Cornwall after deluge of rain

A number of flood alerts have been issued across Devon and Cornwall today (Sunday, January 5). Over two dozen alerts or warnings have been issued throughout the two counties at the time of writing.

The alerts come in the wake of a yellow weather warning for rain throughout the South West. The warning is in place until 9am tomorrow (Monday, January 6).

Flood alerts signal that there is a chance of flooding in an area, whereas a flood warning means flooding is expected. A severe flood warning means people’s lives could be at risk, though thankfully no severe flood warnings have been issued in the South West as of time of writing.
