Celebrated TV personality Richard Hammond has taken on the challenge of a driving test once more, this time in the tranquil roads of Herefordshire. Alongside his daughter Izzy Hammond, the duo assessed their driving skills to see who would achieve fewer minors or majors during the mock exam – and it didn’t go well for the pair.
In the latest episode of their DriveTribe YouTube show, the pair joined forces with TikTok sensation and driving instructor, Aman from Clearviewdriving, who’s a viral hit with over 1.3 million followers, to take a mock driving test. The video, which can be watched at the top of the article, shows how they navigated through Hereford in a sprightly new blue MG car, tackling different components of the UK driving test.
In the video, Richard appeared momentarily baffled at Asda roundabout unclear on where to halt amid the bustling traffic. And Aman eventually disclosed that the Hammonds hadn’t passed the practice examination – as both incurred failures due to parallel parking errors, notably neglecting to check their blind spots appropriately. But she noted Richard had outperformed Izzy marginally. Fortunately, since it was purely a practice run, their licences remained intact.
Izzy failed for never checking her blind spots and issues with parallel parking as she went onto the kerb. but she said that ‘the car can do it for you’ and that ‘you don’t have to always parallel park as there’s other places to park’. Richard failed to check his blind spots at all when parallel parking, but other than that, he would have passed the test. Izzy meanwhile still would have failed hers/.
Famed for his roles in Top Gear and Grand Tour, among other TV shows, Richard is a familiar face around Ross-on-Wye as he lives in the county at his home in Weston-under-Penyard near Ross-on-Wye. His Smallest Cog workshop in Rotherwas is also home to his classic car renovation business.
