Richard Hammond has announced he is splitting from his wife Mindy after 28 years together. The star made the shock announcement on social media on Thursday.
Hammond has become a household name over the past 20 years and rose to fame as one third of the hugely successful Top Gear presenter line-up on the BBC. He was part of what many consider to be the golden age of Top Gear alongside Jeremy Clarkson and James May as the trio gained a global fanbase.
It not only made Hammond famous, but also very wealthy. But that was nothing compared to when he moved from the BBC to Amazon along with Clarkson and May to launch The Grand Tour.

The presenter, who nearly died in a high-speed crash while filming Top Gear in 2006, reportedly received a massive pay rise which saw his annual earnings grow from £500,000 to £7.2m. The Grand Tour came to an end last year as the three popular presenters said an emotional farewell to fans.
Hammond also hosts another popular show, Richard Hammond’s Workshop on Discovery+ which has helped boost his earnings even further. Although The Grand Tour is reportedly Hammond’s largest salary, the presenter has been a familiar face since 1998, Express reports.
He’s spend over 25 years on TV and radio hosting the likes of, Brainiac: Science Abuse from 2003 to 2006, Total Wipeout from 2009 to 2012 and Planet Earth Live in 2012. The TV star’s eye-watering net worth of £37million also comes from investing in property as his family resides in Bollitree Castle.
It’s a Grade II listed mock castle in Weston-under-Penyard, Herefordshire, which he reportedly purchased in 2012 for £2m. Hammond told his X followers: “Our marriage is coming to end, but we’ve had an amazing 28 years together and two incredible daughters.
“We will always be in each other’s lives and are proud of the family we created.”
