Richard Hammond’s wife Amanda has reportedly asked for one thing as they prepare to divorce. The couple, who had been together for 28 years, confirmed the end of their marriage in a joint statement today (Thursday, January 9).
In a joint statement announcing their split, the couple said: “A little update from us; this Christmas we were together as a family and this year we will still be a family but just structured a bit differently. Our marriage is coming to end, but we’ve had an amazing 28 years together and two incredible daughters.
“We will always be in each other’s lives and are proud of the family we created. We won’t be commenting further and sincerely hope that our privacy and that of our children will be respected at this time. With Love, Richard and Mindy.”

Reports suggest that Amanda, 59, is asking to keep the £7million Bollitree Castle estate they own as part of their divorce settlement, according to The Sun. The publication reports Richard, who was born in Solihull is reportedly worth an estimated £35 million, has moved out of the Herefordshire home and is currently staying in rented accomodation nearby.
The couple purchased Bollitree Castle in 2012 for around £2 million. It is claimed Richard, 55, is ‘very upset’ by the split, and had been trying to rekindle the relationship between them prior to the announcement. A source told The Sun: “Richard is very upset about all this. It seems he has tried hard to rekindle the relationship but to no avail. There is no speculation that any third party is involved.”
Mindy was a columnist for the Daily Express, writing articles about her life. The couple married in 2002 after meeting in 1995.
They share two grown-up daughters, Isabella, 24, and Willow, 22.
