A fire engine remained at the scene

Fire crews surrounded a road in Wavertree after a fire broke out. Merseyside Fire and Rescue service were called to Spofforth Road in Wavertree at around 8pm on Friday, January 10.
Firefighters arrived to find two industrial containers on fire. The road was cordoned off by police while the fire was extinguished by firefighters. The fire has been extinguished but one fire engine remained at the scene, Mersey Fire confirmed.
Photographs taken show a cordon in place as smoke plumes into the air beyond a broken metal fence. The road has since been reopened.
