Schoolboy, 14, stabbed to death on London Bus in Woolwich attack with knifeman on run

A 14-year-old boy has been stabbed to death on a bus in London this afternoon.

Emergency services were scrambled to a street in Woolwich after being called just before 2:30pm on Tuesday. Pictures shared online show a number of police and ambulance vehicles at the scene surrounding a red double-decker bus.

Police said that the stabbing took place on a Route 472 bus on Woolwich Church Road near the junction with the A205 South Circular Road. Paramedics treated the boy at the scene but despite their best efforts couldn’t save him.

So far no arrests have been made with the Met Police saying that the investigation is at an early stage. The force stated: “An investigation has been launched after the fatal stabbing of a teenage boy on a bus this afternoon.

“Police were called at 14:28hrs on Tuesday, 7 January to reports of a stabbing on a bus in Woolwich, SE18. The incident occurred on a Route 472 bus on Woolwich Church Road near the junction with the A205 South Circular Road.

“Officers attended, along with London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance. Paramedics treated a 14-year-old boy at the scene who had received stab wound injuries, but he very sadly died shortly after medics arrived.”

There continues to be a cordon in place at the scene of the incident and the police are appealing to the public for information. A statement from the Met Police added: “Police cordons and road closures remain in place whilst emergency services carry out enquiries. No arrests have been made at this early stage. If anyone witnessed the incident or has any information which may help, they are urged to call police on 101 with ref 3795/07JAN25 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

It follows another stabbing in Woolwich yesterday afternoon which has left an 18-year-old man fighting for his life. Police were called to Prince Imperial Road, near Woolwich Common, at 4.20pm to reports of the attack.

The teenage victim was found with serious injuries by emergency services, who rushed him to hospital. He remains in a critical condition. The Metropolitan Police has launched a probe into the knife attack and no arrests have been made so far. Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward for that incident.

A force spokesperson said: “Police were called at approximately 4.20pm on Monday, January 6 to reports of a stabbing in Prince Imperial Road. Officers responded to the scene and found an 18-year-old man suffering from stab wounds.

“He was treated at the location before being transported to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference CAD 4354. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be provided to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.”
