Police are searching for an off-duty ambulance worker who came to a man’s aid before he died following a car crash. At around 5.50pm on Thursday, December 19, it was reported a red Ford Fiesta and a black Ford Transit towing a white box trailer were involved in a crash on Burrows Lane in St Helens.

Merseyside Police said both drivers stopped at the scene and there were no serious injuries reported at that time. Five days later, on Tuesday, December 24, the driver of the Ford Fiesta, 64-year-old Leslie Pearce, went to hospital.

Leslie died the following day. A post mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death. Leslie’s daughter paid tribute to him saying: “My dad was the best dad a girl could ever wish for.
