Shooters Hill College Woolwich closed after boy stabbed

An 18-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after being stabbed outside the college in Prince Imperial Road at around 4.20pm on January 6.

He remains in a life-threatening condition following the incident.

A message on the college website reads: “College closed to students. Wednesday 8th January 2025.

“Please see text messages sent to students, parents and carers.

“Students who have exams should arrive as planned as these will still be going ahead.”

Parents and carers at the college were informed of the closure, telling them that students will study from home.

One person, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: ‘’I also have children who go school near here.

“It’s honestly so terrifying that a young man has been stabbed. My thoughts are with him.’’

Another local who wished to be anonymous said: ‘’Unfortunately these things are happening way too often, we didn’t see what happened here but once we were bringing the kids back from school we just saw loads of police and ambulance just swarm this part of the street.

“So scary.’’

However, Abdou who has lived in the community for nearly 15 years told the News Shopper that he is “not surprised” by the stabbing.

He said: ‘’It is always chaotic around here after and before school, so many students everywhere.

“You’d always see fights or people arguing. I’m not surprised that someone has been hurt.’’

Police have said they are not linking this Woolwich stabbing to the fatal attack on the bus a day later.

There have been no arrests in connection to the stabbing.

Police enquiries are underway and anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference CAD 4354.
