Sir Brian May’s wife shares major health update after star’s ‘scary’ stroke

Sir Brian May’s wife actress Anita Dobson has shared a health update after he revealed he had suffered a stroke and lost the use of one of his arms. The legendary Queen guitarist shared in September that he had been rushed to hospital after ‘scary’ symptoms appeared ‘out of the blue’.

“All of a sudden – out of the blue – I didn’t have any control over this arm. So it was a little scary, I have to say,” he told fans on social media. He praised doctors at Frimley Hospital in Surrey, “where I went, blue lights flashing, the lot”, adding: “So, the good news is I’m OK. I’m just doing what I’m told, which is basically nothing.”

EastEnders legend Anita shared Brian, 77, was now ‘stable’ following the incident, but had since been suffering from the flu. Anita, 75, told The Sun: “The start of the year has been up and down. We both had the flu but we took the kids to Lapland. 15 of them.

“Brian is stable now. Brian has never been happier since we moved.” The couple have recently made the move from London the countryside, and are “just chilling at the moment and spending time at home is quite good”.

The Doctor Who actress added that they’re “taking each day as it comes,” as she said: “It makes you realise that at any minute it could be you.

“You don’t have to necessarily be old, It could be anyone. You think you are fit, you see these people who run marathons and then at a young age they are gone.

“You have to live every day as if it was your last. It’s not easy to do that. You forget and think I’ve got another week and it’s all booked up, you have to be aware that life is precious and with life changing so fast we are all on a bit of a thin thread if you like.”

Anita and Brian married in 2000.
