Strictly Come Dancing star opens up on co-star split confessing ‘it’s not easy’

Strictly Come Dancing sensation Nadiya Bychkova has spoken out about her split from fellow dancer Kai Widdrington.

On Thursday (January 9), the 35-year-old dancer graced the set of ITV’s Loose Women, where she opened up about her forthcoming solo tour to panellists Charlene White, Frankie Bridge, Sue Cleaver, and Katie Piper. Eager to embark on this new venture next month, Nadiya shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming challenge.

However, the conversation took a personal turn when Loose Women’s Sue inquired about Nadiya’s recent break up with Strictly colleague Kai. Seeking deeper insight, Sue asked: “Last time you were here you were with Kai. And I think you said openly that you’ve broken up now. I

“I just wanted to know how do you manage that situation? You’re a great example of how to manage – I mean we’ve all had break-ups and stuff- but how do we carry on working with each other?”

“Do you find it an easy thing to do, to separate it all?”

Nadiya candidly responded: “Well, I don’t think any break-up is easy. But we’re professionals, so we obviously knew that we would have to go back to work together, and that’s what we do,” reports the Mirror.

Keen to steer the discussion back to her professional life, Nadiya continued: “I think in life, it’s about how you deal with things. It’s so much thrown to us, and you need to deal with things, and maybe at some point we’ll be able to talk about it, but right now, it’s all about the tour.”

Nadiya and Kai, both professional dancers on the BBC show, went their separate ways in June 2023 after a two-year romance. The duo is said to have grown apart due to the demands of touring together and constantly being in close quarters.

By October 2024, Nadiya seemed to suggest there might be some underlying tension, as she revealed that she’s “not friends” with Kai. Speaking to the Mirror at the Pride of Britain Awards, the mother-of-one opened up about their relationship.

She admitted: “We work together but we are not friends and that’s ok. One thing I can tell you is that when you see me dancing with him it will be amazing because I’m a professional.”
