Strictly’s Pete Wicks makes candid admission about stint on BBC show

Strictly Come Dancing’s Pete Wicks made a candid confession about his stint on the BBC show. The ex-TOWIE personality, aged 37, joined the latest series with pro dancer Jowita Przystal and managed to charm judges and viewers alike, reaching the semi-finals.

Despite his success, it seems Pete has no intention of returning to the dance floor in the near future. He appeared on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch on January 12, with hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer, as well as other celebrity guests, reports the Mirror.

Tim immediately delved into Pete’s recent experience, asking: “Pete, how did you enjoy Strictly?” Without hesitation, Pete confessed: “I’m glad it’s over.”

Laughter ensued, but Tim persisted: “No but you were good though. You were good.” Pete disagreed, stating: “No, I was useless.”

Tim countered: “No you weren’t, you made it far.” Pete responded: “I made it far, but I was useless.”

He then referred to fellow guest Layton Williams, who competed in Strictly in 2023 with partner Nikita Kuzmin, saying: “I mean Layton obviously did Strictly and he was amazing. He was unbelievable, but I was rubbish.”

When Tim questioned if he enjoyed the experience, Pete disclosed: “I loved it. I absolutely loved it, because I’ve never seen Strictly before and I thought I would be there for like one or two weeks.”

The conversation shifted to Simon’s stint on Strictly as Tim noted: “When Simon did it he was exhausted.”

Recounting his experiences from 2017, Simon shared: “Yes, I was exhausted because I was still doing this show. You know what it’s like, you finish late on a Sunday night then I’d be here at 6 in the morning but it’s such a good experience.”

Layton chimed in with enthusiasm about his time on the show: “I loved it. I do think it’s hard when people have their other stuff going on and I felt really lucky that I could literally just concentrate on just getting the steps.”

Pete complimented Layton, saying: “You didn’t really need to concentrate because you are just gifted.” Flushed with modesty, Layton replied: “Oh stop it. You’re making me blush. You’re to hard on yourself (Pete), you did your thing.”

You can catch up on Sunday Brunch on Channel 4.
