Tesco customer baffled after they find out no one else has the same meal deal

A Tesco shopper was taken aback to discover they had a unique preference for their meal deal choices in 2024, which apparently no one else shared.

They found this out through the 2024 Unpacked feature on the Tesco app, which offered insights into their own shopping habits at the supermarket, including the most frequently purchased meal deal items.

The customer turned to Reddit to announce that their top meal deal consisted of an All Day Breakfast Sub, Onken Naked Strawberry Yogurt Pouch, and a San Pellegrino Sparkling Natural Mineral Water. Using the username Vented55, they posted their singular taste in the Tesco subreddit.

Accompanied by a second image, the post claimed them to be ‘1 in 10 million’, surprising them with the revelation of how distinctive their meal deal selection was. Vented55 penned in their Reddit post: “Is my meal deal really that bad? Not even one person shares my meal deal.”

The supplementary photo included a message that elevated their uniqueness: “You’re 1 in 10 million! Out of over 10 million possible combos, no one shared the same favourite Meal Deal. That’s pretty impressive! ” The Reddit submission attracted over 1,300 upvotes and upwards of 250 comments, with much of the chatter surrounding their choice of sparkling water.

The most popular comment with 442 upvotes, reflecting the sentiment of many, read: “Oh so you’re one of the psychopaths somehow keeping sparkling water on the shelves.”

Another user chimed in with their take on the list, commenting: “The yoghurt is the only decent thing on that list. The sub is middle of the pack and the sparkling water is psychopath behaviour. Feels like you’re drinking bees.”

A third person shared their journey to enjoying sparkling water, saying: “I gave up drinking all kinds of liquids apart from coffee and water after realising I had a crippling addiction to coke (I’m talking strictly liquids here.) After about 2 months of this I still craved the refreshing feeling of carbonated drinks and so I tried sparkling water, and to my surprise I liked it.”

They added: “I think the reason sparkling water tastes bad to so many is that they think fizzy and they automatically expect sugar. I’m not denying the psychopath claim, but I feel like we should be somewhat ‘respected psychopaths’ instead of being shunned from society.”

Another participant in the conversation suggested that tonic water “tastes better” than sparkling water, prompting a response from someone who defended sparkling water, stating: “Tonic water has sugar in it. Also the amount of quinine it contains is so low if you’d want to fight off malaria using just tonic water, you’d have to drink roughly 25 gallons a day of tonic water.”

They continued: “Also if I personally saw someone chugging tonic water with their meal deal I’d call them a psychopath. Team sparkling water 4 lyf.”

Another individual weighed in on the peculiar meal deal combination, stating: “Seeing as nobody gave you a serious answer, it’s a weird mix because it crosses into different demographics:The Breakfast Sub is not the healthiest – it has sausage and bacon. I’d expect the people who eat that to pair it with a Coke. San Pellegrino is often the favourite of healthy people (it’s not more healthy than water, but for some reason that’s my association).”

They continued: “Not sure about the yogurt, but maybe this specific one is more of a kids thing? Anyway, as long as you’re living your best life, don’t worry about it.”
