Commuter towns around London have always been popular for those seeking a peaceful retreat from the capital’s hustle and bustle.
However, one village has seen a significant surge in popularity over recent years, particularly post-pandemic.
Located about an hour’s drive from the city in Kent, Aylesford saw a massive influx of buyers in 2020 when Covid hit, recording a 48 per cent increase in buyer searches throughout the year, according to property experts at Rightmove.
The demand hasn’t dwindled since 2020, but it’s still considerably more affordable than London, with an average property price of £381K – compare that to London’s £687K.

Besides the affordable housing, it’s easy to see why Aylesford is such a hot spot.
The charming village often features on lists of the most picturesque places in Kent and the South East.
Furthermore, according to a survey by CompareMyMove in October 2020, Aylesford ranks among the top ten rural locations in the country to move to.
The village was the only representative from Kent on the list, rubbing shoulders with more famous towns like St Albans and Guildford.
