Well what a year it has been for us all, 2024, as we look back we remember some of the great moments.
Now, to start with, the weather was not the best. We had floods from the Severn in Spring, a very average summer and snow in November, Nothing much different there you all cry, so we hope 2025 has something a little better on offer.
With a General Election thrown into the mix, Peaky Blinders the movie being filmed in Brum, Youtube stars Sidemen in the Bullring, the Birmingham Museum and Art Galley opening and the Spudman taking over Tamworth with his potatoes, its all been a busy year.
England losing to Spain in the Euro finals in July was another blow to the year. On the bright side the prefabs in Wake Green Road were unveiled and ready to be used again after arriving during the Second World War as temporary accommodation. The Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in Smethwick opened finally after many delays with services shifted from Sandwell and City Hospital.
The darker side of the news arrived with an attack on the Holiday Inn Express in Tamworth, and the tension that had built up around the city was everywhere.
So here’s to a happy 2025, and we can all look forward to the great events Birmingham has to offer.
