The Chase viewers were on the edge of their seats as contestants Karen and Ian landed a staggering £100,000 prize, one of the largest in the show’s history.
The pair faced off against chaser Paul Sinha on the ITV quiz show in September 2024, enduring a nail-biting final chase.
Sinha, also known as The Sinnerman, who joined The Chase in 2011 after careers in medicine and stand-up comedy, was just one correct answer away from victory at age 54. Host Bradley Walsh posed the crucial question: “Lesley Manville played the widow Cathy in what BBC sitcom?”.
The Sinnerman incorrectly guessed Last of the Summer Wine, giving Karen and Ian a chance to breathe. However, they confused sitcoms with soaps and failed to secure the point.

In a tense moment, despite both sides fumbling their answers, time ran out and Karen and Ian were declared the winners of the hefty £100,000 prize, leaving them utterly astonished, reports the Express.
Karen was overwhelmed, managing only to whisper in disbelief: “Oh my God! “. Bradley Walsh reflected on the intense finale, saying: “That was close. Six attempts to push back, only two executed. The chaser needed one.”
Ian and Karen’s victory marked a monumental payout in The Chase’s annals, with each taking home £50,000.

Looking back at the show’s 16-year history, the biggest win in 2023 saw three contestants split a £120,000 prize, each taking home £40,000 after outsmarting chaser Mark Labbett.
Another memorable moment was in the final chase of 2018 when team members Gayna, Tim, Luca, and Diane shared a staggering £100,000.
As for individual records, the most memorable win was when Eden, a 20 year old contestant, scooped a massive £75,000. In a showdown with chaser Darragh Ennis, Eden managed an 18-step lead and secured the largest single-player win ever on the show.
