A new curry and biryani shop has opened to Brummies in the corner of a supermarket in Acocks Green. Asian grocery store OPUS Foods moved into the old Wilko unit in Warwick Road at the end of 2024.
The independent supermarket, which sells fresh, chilled, tinned, frozen and dried foods from India and across the continent, also has an Indian takeaway in-house.
Behrouz is located next to the tills and serves freshly-cooked biryanis, curries, Indian starters and street food dishes. A well-known name in India, Behrouz is best-known for its biryanis, which are slow-cooked in the traditional method of Dum Pukht.

Behrouz shares its counter with Gur Chinni, an Indian dessert shop selling cakes and Bengali sweets. OPUS Foods also has a butchers in-house.
Behrouz has several sites across the UK, including another in Barr Street in Birmingham. Recent reviews for the Hockley branch describe the food as ‘hands down the best biryani I’ve had in Birmingham’ and ‘perfectly cooked’.
