Comedian Ed Gamble has become a household name from his podcasts, TV appearances and stand-up shows. The Traitors: Uncloaked host has come a long way from his beginnings in South West London.
Gamble was brought up in Raynes Park, attending King’s College School in Wimbledon. He was mainly raised by his mother, a nurse and NHS health visitor, after his parents separated when he was four.
Going onto attend Durham University, the 38-year-old began his comedy career performing with the Durham Revue while studying philosophy and met fellow comedians Nish Kumar and Nick Mohammed.
His early work included The Peacock and Gamble Podcast, hosted alongside comedian Ray Peacock, before going on to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from 2011 to 2018. By 2015 he was a familiar face on BBC panel show Mock the Week before joining the line-up on Radio X and in 2018 launched the wildly successful podcast Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster.

Now a well known name, Gamble has appeared on Taskmaster, Celebrity Hunted, QI, Pointless, and Great British Menu. While continuing to tour he is current the host of The Traitors Uncloaked, a visual podcast that started with the second series of the show and has continued for the third.
Rock star wife
Gamble married Supermilk guitarist Charlie Jamison in September 2021. The comedian met the indie-rock musician and TV producer back in 2011 and had to postpone their wedding three times due to Covid.
At the time he told the Express: “It has proved to both of us that we definitely want to get married. We are now, gritted teeth, we are determined to get married, which is probably not the right vibe for a wedding.
“We are just going to run down the aisle and race through the ceremony, but it’s gonna happen and we’re trying to get excited about it again.”
The Tube ad that had to be changed
In 2024 Gamble launched his 70-minute show Hot Diggity Dog across the UK, which has now been extended into 2025 and internationally.
In promotion of the tour the post featured the comedian eating a hot dog which saw it banned on the Tube due to Transport for London (TfL) not allowing foods high in fat, sugar and salt to be advertised on the network since 2019.

Having been advised by TfL the comedian swapped the hot dog for a cucumber posting on Instagram that it was a “career highlight.” The post said: “I actually don’t have a problem with the TfL regulations, they make sense to me.
“Hopefully it’s not too late to change the title of the show to Cu Diggity Cucumber?”
Diabetes
Gamble was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 13, after his mum spotted the symptoms following a cold. He told the Mirror “What can happen is the immune system attacks the virus and then short-circuits and keeps on killing things.
“Mum used to be a nurse and was a health visitor at the time, so she noticed I was peeing a lot and thirsty all the time. She took me to our surgery to be tested, and low and behold, that is what it was.”
He has spoken about his diagnosis and raised awareness around the condition throughout his career focusing on it during stand-up routines, in Amazon Prime special Blood Sugar and continuing to through social media and interviews.
The Traitors: Uncloaked can be watched on BBC iplayer and on BBC Two at 10pm.
