A man has been arrested after a journalist was stabbed in the line of duty. The knifing took place on Queensmere Road, Wimbledon, on March 29 last year (2024).
Pouria Zeraati, who works for London-based dissident broadcaster Iran International, was injured as he approached his car in Queensmere Road, Wimbledon, South-West London, on March 29, 2024. An investigation into the attack is being led by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.
A 40-year-old man was yesterday (Tuesday, January 7) arrested at an address in Cricklewood, North-West London. He was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and was taken to a West London police station.
The suspect has been bailed until April pending further enquiries. Officers also carried out searches at four places in the Cricklewood and Finchley.
Two men from Romania were previously arrested upon arrival at a UK airport following their extradition from the Eastern European state on December 17 last year. Nandito Badea, 20 and George Stana, 24, were both charged with wounding and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) and appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on December 18 last year.
They were both remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey next Friday (January 17).
