Amazon has slashed the price of a SAD lamp designed to improve mood during the darker months. Originally £99, the Lumie Vitamin L is now £59.99.
Elsewhere, you can get the lamp for £99 at Boots and John Lewis. The Lumie lamp is a slim light therapy solution for the darker months that’s meant to improve mood, energy, and focus.
The lamp produces 10,000lux, with 30 minutes of use recommended for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and winter blues. With sunlight being a natural mood-booster, the darker months can often have a negative effect on the mood – that’s what the Lumie lamp is aiming to combat.

The Lumie lamp has a 4.6-star rating from 2,245 reviews. One person said: “I love this product. Only had it a week and the little light of sunshine really cheers you up on these dark mornings! I have it on my bedside table and turn it on as soon as I wake up for 30 mins gradually moving it to face me as it’s bright.
“I take it to the kitchen and use it instead of the kitchen light as it’s just great and wakes me up! I don’t have SAD but you don’t have to to use this and that’s why I opted for the mini which is enough. I always crave daylight and go walking at 6am usually so this is defo the next best thing. Lightweight and portable so will be able to take it away with me. I paid £48 it’s now down to £39 – will make great Christmas gifts!”

Another wrote “I suffer with SAD and PMDD but since using this light I have found a difference. Great size, can travel with it easily, simple to use, just plug in and use. I bought this for myself but would make a good gift as it really alters the brain for the better and gives me a slice of happiness.”

“I live in London, the winter season makes everyone miserable, but this lamp has changed my entire life,” a third wrote. “Absolutely smashing job, bloody fantastic! That’s the way it’s done baby!” Of the negative reviews, one person said “This is way too bright. Even looking in the direction of the light is uncomfortable and as such it’s completely impractical.”
