A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of 19-year-old Matthew Daulby following a fight in the street in Ormskirk. Thomas Dures was arrested on December 2 in Greece before being extradited to the UK yesterday, January 7, with the 21-year-old appearing over video link from Heathrow Airport in Preston Magistrates’ Court this morning, January 8.
Dues, of Whalley Drive, Aughton, did not enter a plea to the charge of murder and only spoke to confirm his identity. It is understood Dures was arrested in the Greek capital Athens, Lancs Live reports.
Last year, 18-year-old Henry Houghton was jailed for life for his role in Matthew’s murder. Dures has now been remanded in custody and will make his first appearance at Preston Crown Court on Friday January 10, 2025.
Mr Daulby, 19, was stabbed in the chest and hit with a rock during a mass brawl on Railway Road in the early hours of the morning on 29 July, 2023.
Henry Houghton was found guilty of murder following a trial in March this year. A post mortem examination found that Matthew’s cause of death was a stab wound. Dures has now been remanded in custody and will make his first appearance at Preston Crown Court on Friday January 10, 2025.
