Thomas Dures appears in court charged with the murder of Matthew Daulby

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of teenager Matthew Daulby who died folloing a street fight in Ormskirk.

Thomas Dures, 21, was arrested in Greece on December 2 and extradited to the UK, where he appeared over video link from Heathrow Airport this morning (Wednesday January 8).

Dures, of Whalley Drive, Aughton, did not enter any plea to the charge of murder, speaking only to confirm his identity. It is understood he was arrested in Athens.

Matthew, 19, died from a single stab wound after a fight between two groups of younths from Ormskirk and Maghull on Railway Road. He collapsed in Moorgate in the early hours of July 23, 2023, and died at Aintree University Hospital around 1.30am.

Last year, 18-year-old Henry Houghton was jailed for life for his role in Matthew’s murder. Dures has now been remanded in custody and will make his first appearance at Preston Crown Court on Friday January 10, 2025.
