A man in his 30s has tragically died after being struck by a car.
Emergency services were called to Pembroke Road, in the Marsh Green area of Wigan, shortly before 6am on Thursday (January 9). Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, a woman in her 20s was taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She has been released on bail while further investigations take place.
The area around Pembroke Road, near Kitt Green Road, was cordoned off for several hours on Thursday due to the collision. Police are continuing their enquiries and are calling for witnesses to step forward.
A GMP spokesperson added: “Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell footage, from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.”
