Tributes have been paid to a popular ‘well-loved’ dad-of-two who died suddenly while on holiday.
Sophie, the long-term partner of 38-year-old family man Tim Todd, has shared a moving tribute after he tragically passed away. Tim, who was a devoted father to three year old Albie and six-month-old Elsie, died unexpectedly in his sleep while on a family holiday in Tenerife.
The holiday marked their first trip as a family of four. He is also mourned by his parents Dave and Manda, in-laws Carol and Chris, siblings Beth and Dean, niece Liberty, nephew Ollie, and numerous friends.
Sophie opened up to Grimsby Live about Tim, saying: “He was the most caring person I knew. In the last seven years I knew him he didn’t say anything bad about anyone, and he would do anything for anyone. We started our family nearly four years ago now, and he was such a family man. That’s all he cared about, and he just wanted to support us.”
“He was so hands-on as a dad, and my little boy was such a daddy’s boy. They were out in the garden all the time doing jobs and playing football. They were never away from each other’s side, it was like little and large. He was besotted with Elsie, and it’s so sad that he didn’t have chance to spend more time with her.”
An amazing 380 people attended Tim’s funeral in October, with a further 200 gathering at the wake. “He was so well loved by everyone. I couldn’t believe how many people turned up for him,” Sophie said.
She fondly recalled their first meeting: “We met at a mutual friends’ wedding – we both knew the bride and groom respectively and we were the only single ones there, and as soon as he bought me a drink, that was it. From the get go he was committed and said he wanted a family.”
The couple cherished their holidays together, from trips to the Lake District to adventures abroad, always seeking new walking trails. Tim was a sports enthusiast, enjoying everything from watching any sport on TV to playing golf.
In late December, Tim’s friends held a charity fun day complete with a raffle, auction, and a football match to honour his passion for football, raising an impressive £12,000 for the British Heart Foundation. They aim to make this an annual charity event.
Sophie shared the shock of his sudden passing: “He was so fit and well and we’d been in the swimming pool hours before he died,” she said. “It’s so hard to comprehend because he wasn’t poorly, he was so well, and literally within minutes, everything changed.”
She cherished his calm, supportive nature, adding: “I loved his calm, laid-back nature and the way he would do anything for me. He was so supportive. We just kept each other going.”
