Tributes to ‘beautiful soul’ as dad dies after ‘hit-and-run collision’

Tributes have been paid to a ‘beautiful soul’ after a cyclist died following a ‘hit-and-run collision’ in Birmingham. The victim, named locally as Donnell Goodall, was struck by a car on Brandwood Park Road in Kings Heath.

The 25-year-old had been riding home from work when he suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital after the horror incident at around 9.30pm on January 3. He died from his injuries three-days later.

Scores of floral tributes, balloons and candles have been left at the scene of the crash. One note reads: “Rest in peace. A beautiful soul taken tragically from us. Son, brother, father, nephew, grandson and great grandson. Until we all meet again. Sleep tight.”

Another note said: “Mr Goodhall, miss you my big bro. I promise to make you proud. Love 4eva, your lil bro.” West Midlands Police said that a silver coloured BMW involved in the crash failed to stop at the scene.

A 30-year-old man was later arrested. He has since been bailed while police inquiries continue.

Police said in a statement: “We are issuing a fresh appeal for information after a cyclist who was hit by a car in Birmingham has sadly died. A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision on Brandwood Park Road at around 9.25pm on 3 January.

“He has since tragically died and we’re supporting his family and loved ones at this traumatic time. It’s understood the collision involved a silver BMW which failed to stop at the scene.

“A 30-year-old man was arrested and has since been bailed while our enquiries continue. Anyone with any information, particularly dash cam footage is urged to get in touch with us. You can do this via 101 or Live Chat, quoting log 4855 of 3 January.”
