A trial date has been set after a mum-of-four tragically died following an attack in Newton Heath.
Officers investigated reports of an attack on Karen Youdell in Rose Bank Road, Newton Heath, on July 23, 2023. The mum-of-four, 50, tragically died some months after the attack, on May 8 last year.
Dean Johnstone, 43, was previously charged with attempted murder and assault in connection with the incident, and has since been charged with murder. He has not yet entered pleas in relation to the charge.
Today (Monday, January 13) at Manchester Crown Court, three others appeared in connection with the incident.
Lisa Johnstone, 43, of Scotland Hall Road, Newton Heath; Yvonne Johnstone, 45, of Amos Street, Moston, and Glenn Nelson, 39, of Scotland Hall Road, Newton Heath; all previously pleaded not guilty to perverting the course of justice.
A trial date has been set for April 28 this year. During today’s short hearing, administration matters were discussed.
Lisa Johnstone, Yvonne Johnstone and Glenn Nelson were granted bail until the trial date. Dean Johnstone will next appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on January 22.
