Two arrested after man and woman injured on Scots street

A busy street has been shut off by Police Scotland officers as they investigate an incident which left a man and woman injured in the early hours of this morning.

Police Scotland said Argyle Street, in Glasgow, has been closed to the public following the incident, which took place at around 1.10am. The force said the road is shut between Bunhouse Road and Sauchiehall Street.

Two people were arrested as part of the probe and officers have urged anyone with information to come forward as they continue to investigate the incident.

The area within the cordon includes the road which passes Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, and the popular BrewDog Glasgow Kelvingrove pub.

A post on the Police Scotland Greater Glasgow Facebook page read: Argyle Street is closed between Bunhouse Road and Sauchiehall Street, after a report of a man and woman injured following a disturbance within a property on Blantyre Street around 1.10am on Tuesday, 7 January, 2025.

“The man and woman, aged 49 and 48, were taken to hospital. A 78-year-old man was also taken to hospital. A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection. Officers remain in the area carrying out enquiries. Drivers are asked to use an alternative route.

“They have been taken to hospital and a man has been arrested in connection. Officers remain in the area carrying out enquiries. Drivers are asked to use an alternative route.”

A later update, also posted on Facebook, said the 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with robbery, while the 76-year-old man has been arrested in connection with serious assault.
