Two Lancashire schools named best in region in new ranking

Two schools in Lancashire have been named the best in the region following a brand new ranking.

The Fairer Schools Index measures each education establishment against additional factors such as pupil demographics, ethnicity, and deprivation, alongside existing performance-based metrics. It’s said that this Index fights the ‘built-in bias’ against secondaries teaching children from deprived areas in the Department for Education’s league tables.

The Mirror have exclusively obtained the results and show the schools where teachers make the greatest positive impact on pupils up to the age of 16. The Index is separated into regions, with north west showing two Lancashire schools on the list.

These are Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School in Blackburn with Darwen which is seventh on the list and Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School in Blackburn with Darwen which is in 38th place.

Other schools in the region that made the list are Eden Girls’ Leadership Academy in Manchester, which is 37th overall, Burnage Academy for Boys in Manchester which is 42nd and Manchester Communication Academy in Manchester which is 47th on the list.

Topping the list is a school in the West Midlands, The Steiner Academy Hereford in Herefordshire.
